Smuin 2020 Gala
Updates Regarding the COVID-19 Virus
March 16, 2020
Smuin Contemporary Ballet is following the current
Public Health Order to have residents shelter in place. Administrative staff
remains available electronically. Everything beyond April 7 is up in the air at
this point. Currently, we are suspending ticket sales in San Francisco. We will
reevaluate our Dance Series 2 performance schedule as mandates are lifted (or
extended). It is our great hope to be back on stage before the scheduled end of
our season. If health and safety allow, we will be dancing!
You can text “COVID19SF” to 888-777 for the latest San
Francisco announcements, or go to the San Francisco City website at
https://sf.gov/ for updates.
March 13, 2020
As a performing arts organization, “the show must go
on” is ingrained in us, but never at the expense of people’s health and safety.
As a result, we have cancelled our 2020 Gala scheduled for March 15th.
We are currently rehearsing for Dance Series 2, while
also keeping an eye on daily developments. If there’s a theater open to dance
in, we will be there! Like you, we don’t know how this situation will evolve
and we will update you on our response efforts here and by email.
Thank you for your continued understanding and support.
With best wishes,
Your Smuin Family
P.S. If you are able, reaching out to our local
representatives and to Congress to encourage COVID-19 relief for arts
organizations is a worthwhile and quick step towards mitigating the impact of
the virus on the arts community!
